David Bear – District 21 Commander /  Chief of Staff, Department of Florida 

Gold Star Legacy Life Member David Bear joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2012, earning his eligibility through hostile fire and imminent danger pay while serving during Operation Uphold Democracy in 1995.

David first distinguished himself at Post 4412, where he served as Commander and was honored as both an All-State and All-American Commander. In 2019, he founded Post 12186 in Oldsmar, Florida, where his leadership was again recognized with the titles of All-American Commander and All-American Quartermaster.

At the Department level, David has served in many capacities, including on the Budget and Finance Committee, as Public Servant Chairman, and in other leadership roles advancing the mission of the VFW.

He currently serves as Chief of Staff to Department Commander Scott Hice, continuing his commitment to strengthening the Veterans of Foreign Wars and serving veterans, their families, and their communities across Florida.
